Professor Dr. Shri Prashant Patel (erstwhile professor of Animal husbandry in Vasantrao Naik Agriculture University, Parbhani) after coming in contact with Late Swami Satyanand Saraswati (founder of Bihar school of Yoga) started practicing Yoga. He was later initiated into Karmasaanyas by Swami Satyanand Saraswati. Seeking inspiration from the master Dr. Prashant Patel started Yoga classes in Parbhani in 1978 through an informal association, Yoga Mitra Mandal.
Since then various activities are being conducted apart from regular Yoga classes, like Yoga camps for healthy as well as ailing patients of various diseases, Shuddhikriya (cleansing practices) camps including LaghuShankha Prakshalan, research projects on various problems like effect of Yoga on mentally retarded children, Asthma, personality development of school going children, etc.,presentation of research papers in various national and international conferences. A yoga library was started with handsome collection of books pertaining to these dimensions. Publication of books on Yoga was also undertaken.
In 2006 R.S.S. Janakalyan Samity who started a study center for Yoga teacher diploma course of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra open university, entrusted the association with the responsibility of training the students in theory and practical lessons of the diploma course.As on today more than 500 students have been taught.
In view of the ever growing sphere of activities int informal association, “Yoga Mitra Mandal” was duly registered in 2007 as “Niramay Yogaprasar Wa Sanshodhan Kendra”
In 2013 the center was selected for the scheme of central government , “Swami Vivekanand wellness center.
As on today more than 5000 persons have participated in various Yoga activities of the center, more than 35 publications have been brought out.
To initiate a strong movement through trained, disciplined and dedicated Yoga teachers to take this panacea to the doorsteps of needy families and individuals. To transform the afflicted society from it’s present critical condition into a healthy, happy and enlightened community.
To train and educate the aspirants on the path of yoga as well as to relieve the patients suffering from various diseases, through Yoga. To propagate the ancient and holistic science of Yoga in the society to alleviate it’s ills and to uplift it. To undertake research in Yoga
